Seed Bombs... it's how you can help pollinators!
Seed bombs are the perfect package to keep seeds safe from squirrels and they are convenient to carry with you and throw just about anywhere you want flowers to grow. You don't need to "plant" or bury anything, you simply toss these gems and let nature germinate the life inside.
How to make a Seed Bomb:
1. Get a bouncey ball size clay.
2. Roll your clay in a ball.
3. Stick your thumb in the middle of the ball to make well.
4. Put a pinch of soil in the well.
5. Add a few seeds.
6. Roll it into a ball.
7. Let the clay dry out!
8. When dry - throw seed bomb anywhere that needs flowers.

My students and I taught others how to make seed bombs at Make a Difference Day October 2016, at our school STEAM night, and with residents at the Veteran's Home
See the Blog section of this website to read about what my students thought about their experience teaching residents at the Veteran's Home how to make seed bombs.
We collected data when our seed bombs began to sprout. We compared black oil sunflower to marigold seed bombs. You can take a look at our results below. We had more sunflower seed bombs (18) sprout than marigold (15), but the results were pretty close. They are both fast growing seeds that work well in a variety of gardens.
